At Moonee Ponds Family Dentistry, we offer a COMPLIMENTARY no obligation assessment with one of our implant dentists, who will assess your suitability and discuss risks and benefits, so that you can make an informed decision regarding your most suited permanent teeth replacement option.
What is a Dental Implant?
Whether you’re replacing a single tooth or multiple teeth, dental implants are a permanent replacement solution that help to support chewing and speech similarly to a natural tooth and to maintain appearance and preserve jawbone. They look, feel, and work just like natural teeth, allowing you to eat, speak, and smile with confidence again.
Why Choose Moonee Ponds Family Dentistry for Dental Implants?
- All of our implant dentists have undergone extensive implant training, and continue to update our knowledge with the latest techniques and technology.
- We use titanium implants manufactured in countries such as Switzerland, Japan and USA. These titanium implants are durable, and with proper care, can last a lifetime. The replacement tooth/crown is customised , designed and created in Australian laboratory, following strict Australian standards.
- Computer- guided 3D implant technology: Using 3D imaging and advanced implant software, our dentist and implant technician create your custom surgical guide to precisely plan and place the implant. All of these planning processes are done prior to the implant placement appointment, so that the implant is placed accurately as planned, resulting in less tissue trauma, quicker recovery and a more aesthetically pleasing result.
- We offer flexible payment plan options and accept all health insurance. Many dental insurance plans do partially cover dental implants, although coverage can differ, so it’s best to consult your insurance provider.
Whats Involved in getting a Dental Implant at Moonee Ponds Family Dentistry?
- Complimentary no obligation initial consultation: in this appointment, your implant dentist will perform a thorough examination to determine if implant is the right tooth replacement option for you. If it is, they will provide you a customised treatment plan and explain our payment plan options.
- Implant surgery: using your customised surgical guide, your implant dentist will place the titanium implant
- Digital impression: once the implant is placed, a digital impression will be taken, to make the crown, which is the replacement tooth.
- Crown placement: once the implant fuses with bone, the crown is then fitted and permanently attached onto the implant, adjusted for bite and comfort.
To keep you comfortable during the procedure, your dentist will apply local anaesthetics, to numb the area. - We can also offer “Sleep Dentistry” if required during the implant surgery.
How to Care for your Dental Implant
The dental implant becomes a part of your mouth, and the crown is like your natural teeth, so it’s very important to take care of all your teeth, gums and mouth. The following are our general recommendations
- Maintains good oral hygiene routine: proper twice daily brushing with a soft toothbrush and daily flossing of your teeth, including area surrounding the implant.
- Attend your regular 6 monthly dental check-up and clean: regular and proper examination and professional of the implant and other teeth will help your teeth and gums around the implant healthy
- Wear a nightguard: if you grind or clench whilst you are sleeping, this can put excessive pressure on the implant. We can make customised night guard for you to wear over night to protect the implant and your other teeth.
- Avoid smoking, chewing and biting hard foods or pens, pencils or fingernails on the crown-implant tooth.
- If the crown feels loose or wobbly, call us as soon as possible as the sooner we attend to it, the easier the fix.
